PSG Football Advisor Wants Messi To Stay In France

February 05, (THEWILL) – Luis Campos has expressed his desire to have Lionel Messi, remain with Paris Saint-Germain as the Argentine mulls his future.

THEWILL recalls that the 35-year-old superstar joined PSG in 2021, on a two-year contract, with an option to renew for another year. The seven-time Ballon D’Or winner recently scored a crucial goal in the 3-1 win over Montpellier and also notched his 10th Ligue 1 goal of the season during the 2-1 victory against Toulouse.

Campos, PSG’s Football Advisor, stated: “We are in discussions. I cannot hide that, I would love to have him involved in this project so that he can continue with us. I would be delighted if he does so, but we are talking at the moment, trying to achieve that goal, that Leo Messi remains with us.”

He went on to praise Messi’s recent contributions to the team, particularly in the win over Montpellier, where he led the team to victory with his exceptional second-half performance. “At half-time, I said to him, ‘Leo, it is imperative you drag the others with you’. He replied: ‘keep calm’ and he produced an exceptional second-half.”

PSG’s current form is just the boost they need, especially with Kylian Mbappe’s injury due to see him miss the Champions League Last 16 first leg against Bayern Munich on February 14. Campos spoke highly of Mbappe, mentioning that he saw him working out in the morning to recover as fast as possible.

He stated, “Losing Kylian of course is tough, I saw he was very sad about the injury. However, then I then saw him working out in the morning so as to recuperate as fast as possible. That is the personality of a winner, of someone very special. He is already the best striker in the world.”
