PSG Confirm Interest In Buying Stade de France

March 11, (THEWILL) – Paris Saint-Germain have expressed their interest in buying the Stade de France as their search for a permanent stadium continues.

The Ligue 1 club currently plays at the Parc des Princes but has threatened to leave if they cannot buy the venue. Despite investing around £75m in the Parc des Princes and pledging an additional £400m of investment, Paris officials have dismissed the idea of selling the stadium to PSG.

They have now confirmed their intention to make an offer for the Stade de France, which is currently the home of the French national team. The 80,000-seater stadium hosted the 1998 World Cup final and has also seen three UEFA Champions League finals since the start of the century.

Even with that confirmation, PSG will prefer to stay at the Parc des Princes and complete their renovation plans. PSG’s lease at the Parc des Princes will run until 2043. If they cannot acquire the stadium, the football club could turn their attention to owning the Stade de France by as early as 2025.

Club officials are also exploring the option of constructing their own stadium outside Paris. As the search of the defending champions for a permanent home continues, their plans could potentially have a significant impact on the future of French football, especially if they take the club outside Paris.
