The reigning French champions put on an assured performance at Parc des Princes to claim the three points and move ahead of early pace-setters OGC Nice, who can reclaim top spot if they beat Rennes on Sunday.
Despite a nervous start that saw Montpellier go close to taking a shock lead, PSG steadied themselves and broke the deadlock on 10 minutes through Lee Kang-in. The South Korean midfielder impressively found the top corner after being teed up by Kylian Mbappe. PSG began to take control as the first half wore on, with Ousmane Dembele forcing a strong save before Mbappe himself came close with a fierce volley.
The hosts doubled their advantage just before the hour mark when Warren Zaire-Emery exchanged passes with Dembele and confidently finished from inside the box. Soon after, substitute Vitinha made it 3-0 by converting after being picked out by Hakimi’s low cross.
