June 24, (THEWILL) – The organisers of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football competition, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, have congratulated the State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for its successful election of new executive members.

Recall that the elective congress of Bayelsa SWAN was held in Yenagoa on Friday, with Mrs. Timinipre Ohia of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) emerging as Chairman.

Also elected were Preye Yabrifa of Glory FM 97.1 as Vice Chairman, Patrick Ndubuisi of Raypower/AIT as Secretary and Ekounkumo Amgbare of DayBreak Newspaper as Treasurer.

The Director General of the Prosperity Cup, Mr. Ono Akpe. in a statement on Saturday, expressed delight that the much talked about elections have been concluded, and the new executive members can begin to pilot the affairs of the association with the intent of repositioning it to greater heights.

While eulogising the immediate-past Comrade Alambo Datonye-led executive, Akpe urged the new executive members to take a cue from their predecessors, especially in the area of proper information dissemination of sporting activities taking place in the state and cohesion amongst members.

The Director General concluded by assuring the new executive members of a smooth relationship between them and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the Prosperity Cup.
