September 21, (THEWILL) – The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s 30th anniversary event is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated cards in the promotion’s history, poised to write the next chapter in the UFC’s historic 30-year journey.
UFC officials announced this week that a light heavyweight title fight between Jiri Prochazka and Alex Pereira has been added to the UFC 295 lineup on 11 November at Madison Square Garden in New York. The vacant 205-pound belt will be on the line when Prochazka and Pereira square off.
Prochazka was previously champion before vacating the title due to injury in 2022. He rides a 13-fight winning streak into his return bout. Pereira is a former UFC middleweight champion moving up to light heavyweight, where he won his divisional debut in July. Their light heavyweight clash joins two other massive matchups at UFC 295.
In the main event, former champ Jon Jones returns from a three-year hiatus to challenge heavyweight ruler Stipe Miocic. Additionally, strawweight contenders Jessica Andrade and Mackenzie Dern are scheduled to clash in a pivotal showdown.
UFC President, Dana White, expressed excitement about the card, stating: “This is one of the biggest and most stacked cards we’ve ever put together. Three title fights at Madison Square Garden for our 30th anniversary will be incredible.”
The card is expected to draw substantial attention as the promotion celebrates its milestone. Along with the trio of featured bouts, the event includes several other intriguing matchups, such as Kevin Borjas vs. Joshua Van and Jared Gordon vs. Mark Madsen.
