SAN FRANCISCO, May 07, (THEWILL) – Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte has announced that the 2020-21 Dutch football league (Eredivisie) season can start on the 1st of September, behind closed doors.
This announcement came a week after the League Board cancelled the entire 2019-2020 season due to the coronavirus. The season ended without a champion and no team will be relegated or promoted in all the divisions.
The Dutch league is the first soccer association in Europe to announce a date for the start of the 2020-2021 season.
