September 17, (THEWILL) – With an incredible hat-trick in the second half, Son Heung-min broke his Premier League goal drought as Tottenham thrashed Leicester City 6-2.
The South Korean forward was not added to the starting XI for his lacklustre performance thus far in the campaign as Antonio Conte decided to sit him out of his team’s final encounter before the international break.
However, the Golden Boot winner from the previous season stole the show after the break with a spectacular display that saw him score three goals in just 13 minutes with only 30 minutes of action.
Youri Tielemans opened the scoring before Harry Kane and Eric Dier put Spurs ahead and James Madisson equalised before half time. Just before Son’s hattrick, Rodrigo Bentacur put the hosts ahead in the second half.
All three of Son’s goals were scored with a certain amount of class, ensuring that Spurs enter the international period tied on points with Manchester City at the top while putting Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers under further pressure.
