February 26, (THEWILL) – In the London Derby on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur secured a much-needed win over Chelsea, marking their first English Premier League victory against the Blues since November 2018.
The match ended with a 2-0 scoreline in favour of the home team, with a sensational debut goal from Oliver Skipp and another Harry Kane special. Chelsea struggled to make an impact despite having most of the ball possession in the first half, and Tottenham looked dangerous on the counterattack.
The visitors had a penalty shout in the game’s second minute, but replays showed no contact between Raheem Sterling and Skipp. Chelsea had a game plan change when Thiago Silva had to be replaced by Wesley Fofona due to injury in the 19th minute.
It did not get any better for the visitors who could have been down to 10 men if the red card flashed against Hakim Ziyech was not reversed after a field-side monitor review just before halftime. The defeat piled more pressure on Chelsea boss, Graham Potter, whose team has only won one game out of their last 11.
Meanwhile, Conte watched from the comfort of his home in Italy as his team moved four points clear of fifth-placed Newcastle. Spurs will now face Sheffield United in the FA Cup fifth-round clash on Wednesday, while Chelsea will host Leeds United in the EPL on Saturday.
