February 28, (THEWILL) – Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has been declared the winner of last Saturday’s Presidential election in Taraba State.
The former Vice President defeated his main rivals, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer in the State, Professor Mohammed Abdulaziz of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, said Atiku polled a total of One Hundred and Eighty-Nine Thousand, Seventeen (189,017) votes to clinch the state.
Obi polled 146,315 votes to come second while Tinubu got 135,165 to emerge third. Kwankwaso of the NNPP got 12,818 votes.
The total number of registered voters in the state were 1,941,549, while a total of 521,442 voters were accredited, with the total valid votes standing at 499,358.
The number of rejected votes cast is 18,460, while the number of votes cast is 517,818
