Power Supply To National Theatre Disconnected For Unpaid N9m Debt

BEVERLY HILLS, AUGUST 01 , (THEWILL) – The Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc (EKEDC) has explained that electricity supply to the National Arts Theatre in Lagos was disconnected because its management was owing over N9 million debt.

According to Idemudia Godwin, General Manager, Media Communications of EKEDC, in an interview with in Lagos, the complex was disconnected after appeals and demand notices went unheeded.

“The debt is an accumulation of unpaid bills over time,” he said.

“We don’t disconnect without serving notice.”

“Besides, we recently ran a newspaper advertisement informing ministries, departments and parastatal agencies (MDAs) of government that were indebted to EKEDC of our intention to disconnect them.”

“We have commenced disconnection of historic debtors, including residential, commercial, industrial and government establishments within our network.”
