February 26, (THEWILL) – Graham Potter has revealed that his Tottenham Hotspur counterpart, Antonio Conte, had previously offered him advice on managing Brighton and Hove Albion over WhatsApp.
The two teams will go head-to-head on Sunday, in a crucial English Premier League match. Chelsea is looking to register their second win of 2023, while Tottenham’s Assistant coach, Cristian Stellini, will lead the team from the touchline as Conte recovers from gallbladder surgery at home in Italy.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s London derby, Potter claimed that Conte texted him after Spurs’ victory over Brighton last season, where he offered some advice. Potter shared that Conte’s message to him “was about doing your best today and not necessarily thinking too much about the future or the past.” It was something that was on Conte’s WhatsApp message to him.
Potter had previously spoken to Conte at Brighton and they have kept in contact from a distance since then. Potter admires Conte as a coach and a gentleman especially given how much success Conte has earned in his impressive career.
Potter spoke highly of the Tottenham coach, and it seems their communication has been beneficial to him. As Chelsea faces off against Tottenham on Sunday, it will be interesting to see if Potter’s newfound knowledge will help the Blues in securing their second win of the year.
