December 01, ,(THEWILL) – Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, believes Tottenham Hotspur boss, Ange Postecoglou, has made a positive impact on the English Premier League since arriving over the summer.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, ahead of City’s clash with Spurs on Sunday, Guardiola praised the Australian’s dynamic style of play and ability to quickly implement his philosophy.

Despite losing their last three league games, Guardiola, said he has been impressed with Spurs under Postecoglou, highlighting their aggression, chance creation and flair in all areas of the pitch. “Every team plays with the desire of the manager. His have done in the past, in Japan, of course in Glasgow with Celtic and now,” Guardiola remarked. “I think he makes football a better place.”

The Manchester City boss, does not expect Postecoglou to change his approach against the champions and is preparing for a difficult test at the Etihad Stadium. City are currently one point behind league leaders Arsenal as they seek a fifth EPL crown in six seasons.

Guardiola first came across Postecoglou in a 2019 pre-season friendly, when his side faced the Australian’s former club Yokohama F. Marinos in Japan. The Spaniard, had watched video footage of Yokohama before the game and was impressed by what he saw. “I said to the players, we’re going to face a good team with challenges, intense build-up, intense and high pressing,” he recalled.

While Guardiola enjoyed meeting Postecoglou in Japan, he joked that the Australian did not offer him the customary gift of a glass of wine. The two managers square off again on Sunday in what promises to be an entertaining weekend clash.
