BEVERLY HILLS, June 25, (THEWILL) – The police has again sealed off the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja, the second time this week, as President Muhammadu Buhari hosts the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, members to a meeting that is expected to resolve the lingering leadership crisis rocking the party.

Police officers in four police vehicles arrived at the secretariat and ordered employees who had entered the premises to leave the compound. Thereafter, the headquarters was sealed off.

The pro-Adams Oshiomhole/Bola Tinubu camp versus the camp led by state governors of the party are battling for the soul of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

THEWILL gathered that the NEC meeting is expected to dissolve the party’s national working committee and then put in place a caretaker committee that will prepare for the party for a midterm convention where a new executive will be elected.

The state governors and party leaders at the National Assembly are scheduled to attend the meeting in person while other members of NEC will participate virtually.

One of the leaders of the party, Tinubu was not granted the privilege he previously enjoyed to attend Thursday’s meeting. According to the party’s constitution, he does not qualify to be in the party’s NEC.

The pro-Tinubu members of the national working committee Wednesday said they would boycott the meeting, describing it as illegal.
