BEVERLY HILLS, SEPTEMBER 09, (THEWILL) – The Police have rescued two Chinese Nationals, Shen Ximing and Wei Futang, who were last week kidnapped in Odeda, Odeda Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The expatriates were kidnapped while working on a quarry site but are now recuperating at an undisclosed hospital.

Acting police Spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi told reporters at the command’s headquarters at Eleweran, Abeokuta, that the expatriates were rescued on Wednesday after exchange of gunfire between the abductors and Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) operatives.

He revealed that a police team, comprising men of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and FSARS, were deployed to combat the abductors adding that the kidnappers abandoned the victims and took to their heels, following pressure piled up on them during a gun-battle at their hideout.

Oyeyemi added that the expatriates, who were rescued unhurt, have also been handed over to their company with an appeal to citizens to stop the habit of paying ransom to kidnappers.
