The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Suleiman Abba, has approved the redeployment of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIG) to supervise Saturday’s gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections in Rivers, Ikwa Ibom, Lagos, Oyo and 15 others states of the federation.
The redeployment is coming days after the police command dispatched six Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIG) to coordinate Police activities in the six geo-political zones during the polls.
IGP Suleiman has also deployed a Commissioner of Police to command each of the Senatorial Zones of the following States; Gombe, Bauchi, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Lagos, Benue, Edo, Plateau and Sokoto, the police command in Nigeria said in a statement on Thursday.
Rivers State, which has been a hotbed of violence since this electoral cycle will also get Special Units of the Nigeria Police Force to address security concerns. “These are; 32 Units of Police Mobile Force (PMF), 4 Units of Counter terrorism Units (CTU), 4 Units of Special Protection Units (SPU) and 6 Crack Teams of Detectives from Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) and complements of Intelligence officers,” the statement said.

3. Enugu State – CP Adamu Mohammed
4. Osun State – CP Valentine Ntomchukwu.
