September 22, (THEWILL) – On Thursday, in Nations League Group A4, the Netherlands defeated Poland 2-0, thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo and Steven Bergwijn.
At the PGE Narodowy in Warsaw, the Oranje dominated the first half and led 1-0 at the interval with Gakpo’s close-range goal in the 13th minute of the fixture.
At the beginning of the second period, Poland pushed more fiercely to find an equaliser, but Bergwijn finished calmly to secure all three points at the hour mark.

As a result, Louis van Gaal’s team will just need to win their final group match against Belgium on Sunday, in order to proceed to the Finals in June next year.
The Netherlands stay atop Group A4, but because Belgium defeated Wales earlier, they have not yet secured a spot in the finals. But, it gets tougher for group member, Poland, and they will next take on Wales, with the result determining if they will avoid relegation or not.
