February 24, (THEWILL) – In a move that will delight Everton fans, England goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford, has signed a new contract with the club.

The 28-year-old was due to enter the final 12 months of his previous deal this summer and had been linked with a potential move away. Pickford joined Everton in 2017 from Sunderland and has made 222 appearances for the Toffees. He has now committed his future to the club, despite their current position of 16th in the Premier League table, just a point above the relegation zone.

Speaking about his new deal, Pickford said: “It’s massive to sign this new contract at such a special club for me. The support I’ve had from everyone at the club since I joined as a 22-year-old has been so important to my family and me. I’m happy here and so is my family. We love it at Everton.”

The goalkeeper, who Everton’s Director of Football, Kevin Thelwell, hailed as “one of the best goalkeepers in world football,” has won 50 international caps for England and was part of the team that reached the final of Euro 2020. He hopes to build a legacy at Everton and be remembered as one of the best keepers to have played for the club.

The new contract is a significant boost for the club and shows their commitment to moving forward. Everton has won two of their three matches under new Manager, Sean Dyche, who took over from Frank Lampard. Their next game is at home against Aston Villa on Saturday.
