Only four (Kwara, Kano, Rivers, Niger) of the seven aggrieved Governors attended the meeting. The Governors of Jigawa, Adamawa and Sokoto had to travelled to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj. Their absence forced the meeting to adjourn shortly after convening away from the prying eyes and ears of State House correspondents.

At the meeting were Vice President Namadi Sambo, Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih and four State Governors (Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Katsina) of the party loyal to the faction of the party supported by the president.

A communiqué read to correspondents by Governors Liyel Imoke (Cross River) flanked by Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), and Idris Ichalla Wada (Kogi) said the meeting agreed to reconvene after the Muslim Hajj and Christian pilgrimages have been completed.

The communiqué: “Sequel to the meeting held on 15th September and in line with the agreements reached at the meeting, the Governors met with the President, Vice President and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees with apologies from the Governors of Jigawa, Sokoto and Adamawa, who had to travel for the Hajj.

“The meeting which was cordial, resolved that inspite of the unfortunate events that arose after the meeting of 15th of September, the parties remain committed to the resolution of their differences.
“The meeting agreed to continue to take steps towards implementing the resolutions agreed to at previous meetings.

“In view of the absence of some of the Governors, it was resolved that meeting be reconvened shortly after the Muslim Hajj and Christian pilgrimages are concluded.”
