PDP Now Unstoppable In Kano After Winning Delayed Nasarawa Council Votes

BEVERLY HILLS, March 11, (THEWILL) – The main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and its candidate, Alhaji Abba Kabir will certainly win the Kano State governorship election after defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Nasarawa Local government area, the only council area that had delayed the final collation and announcement of Saturday’s election conducted in the 44 local government areas of the state.

The PDP polled 54, 349 votes against the APC’s 34, 297 votes. The PDP has now scored a total of 1, 014, 355 votes while the APC garnered a total of 987, 819 votes. This is another major upset for the APC, which had earlier lost another strategic state (Oyo State) in South Western Nigeria.

THEWILL recalls that President Muhammadu Buhari easily won Kano in the presidential election but incumbent governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje had his reputation damaged when a widely circulated video emerged showing him receiving thousands of US dollars in bribes from a contractor in the state.
