SAN FRANCISCO, September 20, (THEWILL) – President Goodluck Jonathan Friday fired two special advisers- Joy Emordi and Tunji Olagunju – as he moves to curtail the influence of the new Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a faction of the ruling party that has taken a strategic hold of the national assembly and discourse.

A statement by Reuben Abati, the president’s spokesman announced the sack.

“President Goodluck Jonathan has relieved Joy Emordi of her appointment as Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters with immediate effect.

“The President has similarly terminated the appointment of Dr. Tunji Olagunju as his Special Adviser on the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).

“President Jonathan thanks Mrs. Emordi and Dr. Olagunju for their services and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” Abati said in the statement emailed to THEWILL.
