January 10, (THEWILL) – Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Lawman Duruji.
THEWILL gathered that Duruji was kidnapped at Ehime Mbano LGA on Saturday at Oriagu while returning from a function.
Kidnapped alongside the politician is Ezzybee, a popular businessman in Owerri.
The business tycoon was abducted on Sunday afternoon while on his way to watch a local football match.
The wife of a former chairman of Okigwe Local Government Area, Frank Onwunere, was also abducted on Sunday.
Some other Unidentified persons were also kidnapped at Okwelle junction in the Onuimo LGA of the state, and at the Ubomiri junction in the Mbaitoli and Amaraku Mbano LGAs of the state.
The spates of kidnappings took place separately between Saturday and Sunday in the state.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Micheal Abattam, said the Command was already on the trail of the kidnappers.
He disclosed that one of the victims who was kidnapped at Ubomiri had been rescued by the police.
