Oyo PDP Chieftain Akika Abducted By Gunmen

September 05, (THEWILL) – A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Otunba Benedict Akika, has been abducted by Gunmen.

THEWILL reports that Akika was kidnapped on Tuesday evening, at his residence in Olorunda Abba, Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.

A community leader in the area said the gunmen stormed Akika’s residence in Olorunda Abba in what appeared to be a well-coordinated attack.

“The gunmen overpowered his security personnel and whisked him away in a vehicle, leaving behind a trail of panic and confusion in the community. This act of terror has left our community in fear. We appeal to the government and the police to bring Chief Akika back safely and put an end to this insecurity,” he said.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP Adewale Osifeso, who confirmed the incident on Thursday, in Ibadan, said the command had commenced an investigation into the matter.

“Investigation has commenced into the matter. Updates will be provided accordingly,” Osifeso said.
