September 28, (THEWILL) – Victor Osimhen made an impressive impact for Galatasaray in their thrilling 3-3 draw against Kasımpaşa during the seventh matchday of the Süper Lig at RAMS Park on Saturday. The Nigerian forward opened the scoring in the 20th minute from Abdulkerim Bardakci’s cross. He doubled his tally eight minutes later with a powerful shot from Gabriel Sara’s pass.

Osimhen’s performance set a new record, making him the first Galatasaray player since Bafetimbi Gomis in 2017 to contribute four or more goals in his first three Super Lig matches. Mauro Icardi added a third goal for Galatasaray with a brilliant volley, putting the team in a strong position.

However, Kasımpaşa mounted a spirited comeback. Mamadou Fall scored just before half-time, followed by goals from Haris Hajradinovic in the 83rd minute and Nuno Da Costa in stoppage time, levelling the match at 3-3. The draw was a disappointment for Galatasaray, who had looked set for victory.

Osimhen’s night ended early due to a suspected injury. He signalled for a substitution before half-time and was replaced by Dries Mertens at the start of the second half. The extent of his injury remains unclear, but Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk will be hoping for a swift recovery given Osimhen’s impact on the team.

In his brief time with Galatasaray, Osimhen has already scored two goals and provided three assists. His performances have been crucial for the team, and his potential absence could be a significant blow. Meanwhile, Nigerian defender, Kenneth Omeruo, made his fifth appearance of the season for Kasımpaşa, coming on as a substitute in the 30th minute.
