Osimhen Demands Release Clause In Napoli Contract Extension

July 03, (THEWILL) – Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has informed Napoli of his desire to have a release clause included in his contract, as a condition for extending his stay at the club.

Osimhen has been a standout performer for Napoli in recent years, emerging as their top striker. His impressive tally of 26 Serie A goals last season played a vital role in securing the club’s first Scudetto in 33 years and earning him the distinction of being the first African player to win the Capocannoniere.

In addition, his contributions in the UEFA Champions League, where he netted five goals, propelled Napoli to their inaugural quarterfinal appearance. Osimhen’s exceptional performances have not gone unnoticed, attracting interest from several top European clubs, including PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich.

Despite the attention, Napoli remains determined to retain the services of the 24-year-old striker. While Osimhen’s current contract runs until 2025, he has communicated to the club his request for a release clause to be included in any contract renewal. Such a clause would enable Osimhen to depart if another club triggers the specified release amount.

Alternatively, he could submit a transfer request should he decide to move on. Napoli is reportedly seeking €180 million for the former Lille player, but it remains uncertain whether his suitors will meet such a hefty valuation.
