February 11, (THEWILL) – Victor Osimhen has won the Serie A player of the month award for January.
The 24-year-old Nigerian forward was in sensational form for Napoli, helping the team preserve their lead at the top of the league table. His performances included a goal against Sampdoria, two goals and an assist against Juventus, a clinical finish against Salernitana, and a spectacular finish against AS Roma.
Osimhen beat four other nominees to win the award, including Paulo Dybala, Lautaro Martinez, Luis Alberto and compatriot, Ademola Lookman. This marks Osimhen’s first player of the month award and makes him the third Napoli player this season to win the prestigious honour, following in the footsteps of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min-Jae.
Osimhen’s fantastic form in January has put him in the spotlight and solidified his position as one of the top players in the league. The Super Eagles’ forward will receive his award on Sunday, when Napoli takes on Cremonese.
