September 08, (THEWILL) – Asisat Oshoala scored the winning goal for Bay FC in their 1-0 victory over Racing Louisville in the National Women’s Soccer League. The Nigerian forward found the net in the 75th minute, capitalising on a blocked attempt by Penelope Hocking.
This goal marked Oshoala’s fourth of the 2024 season as she continues to contribute to the climb up the table for Bay. Her performance has been crucial for the team, with three of her four goals directly resulting in match wins. This has helped Bay FC reach sixth place in the NWSL standings with 24 points.
Oshoala’s goal against Racing Louisville was her second in two matches against the team this year, the outfit that has most been at the receiving end of her goals. The match, held at PayPal Park, was closely contested until Oshoala’s decisive strike.
Bay’s victory strengthens their position in the playoff race. The team will now focus on their upcoming away game against North Carolina Courage, scheduled for September 13 at WakeMed Soccer Park.
Oshoala, known for her contributions to the Nigerian national team, the Super Falcons, continues to find her feet in the NWSL. Her performances this season have been instrumental in Bay FC’s push for playoff contention.
