February 12, (THEWILL) – Barcelona continued their perfect start to the Liga F season with a commanding victory over Alavés on Saturday.
Before the match, both teams paid tribute to the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria by wearing shirts in support and observing a minute of silence. Despite a strong early effort from Alavés, it was Barcelona’s red-hot Asisat Oshoala, who broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute with her 18th goal of the season.
The move, which also involved Claudia Pina and Fridolina Rolfö, was a moment of pure magic on the pitch. Rolfö was also involved in the second goal, which was an own goal by Alavés’ Nigerian Super Falcons’ player, Onome Ohale.
Barcelona’s dominance continued in the second half, with the home side twice being saved by the woodwork. However, goals from Aitana Bonmatí and Claudia Pina, sealed the victory for Barcelona, who now have 19 wins out of 19 in the Liga F.
Barcelona will now head into the international break in high spirits, knowing that everything is going according to plan in the domestic championship.
