July 07, (THEWILL) – Governor Samuel Ortom has signed over 3,000 Certificates of Occupancy (CoO), which are ready for collection by applicants in the state.

The Commissioner for Land, Survey and Solid Minerals, Mr Bernard Unenge, who made the disclosure while briefing journalists in Makurdi on Thursday, also said the N6 billion Benue Geographic Information Service (BENGIS), will be ready for commissioning in October this year.

According to him, the structural, electrical and other fitting on the building are about eighty percent complete, noting that on commission, cases of double plot allocation will be over, while Internally Generated Revenue will be boosted.

“Digitalisation of documents in ten local government areas will be put to use on completion. Fifteen other towns are been processed to see that the quality control is perfect.”

The Commissioner stated that the three zonal offices of BENGIS in Gboko, Katsin-Ala, and Oturkpo, will be competed, so as to ease the process of land acquisition within such axis without applicants coming to Makurdi, the state headquarters.

Mr Unenge, who condemned the activities of some area boys that harass town planners and developers for ransom, advised people to report them to security agents for necessary action.

The Project Coordinator, Mr Mario Bajouk, in his remark, expressed hope that the project will be ready as scheduled in the contract agreement of July this year.

The Coordinator said, the initial challenges witnessed in the beginning of work has been overcome, saying his company has carried out similar projects in Rivers state and many others.
