Operation Lafiya Dole: Army Rescues 30 IDPs From Boko Haram

SAN FRANCISCO, July 28, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Army said Tuesday that it had rescued 30 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Boko Haram’s captivity in Dikwa, Borno State.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Deputy Director Army Public Relations 7 Division, Maiduguri, Colonel Tukur Gusau.

The statement said : “As a result of ongoing operations under the aegis of Operation Lafiya Dole to clear Dikwa and its environs from Boko Haram terrorists, the troops of 7 Division Nigerian Army yesterday (Monday) rescued 30 internally displaced persons from the hands of the terrorists in Kwayabe and Wufe wards in Dikwa LGA of Borno State.”

The statement listed the rescued persons to include 21 children and a six-day- old infant, seven women, including three nursing mothers and two elderly male adults.

The statement added: “Our troops also discovered a training shed inside the vandalised and looted palace of the Shehu of Dikwa where weapon handling and engagement of aircraft were being taught to new Boko Haram recruits.”
