Sunshine Stars earned a narrow 1-0 home win over Kano Pillars thanks to Emmanuel Oguagu’s early strike at the Akure Township Stadium. An equally tight result saw Katsina United defeat Kwara United 1-0 through Bello Lukman’s second-half effort at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.
Shooting Stars soared past Plateau United 2-1 in Ibadan, despite a late consolation goal by Uche Onwuasonya from the visitors. As THEWILL reported, an eight-goal thriller played out as Bayelsa United outscored Akwa United 5-3 in Yenagoa. Robert Mizo bagged three goals in a standout attacking display.
Heartland fought back from two down at the end of the first 45 minutes to draw 2-2 with Lobi Stars by the final whistle with four different goalscorers. Enugu Rangers opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory away to Doma United after taking their chances in the first half.
