January 08, (THEWILL) – Racing Genk secured a 3-1 victory over Brugge in the Belgian Pro League fixture at Cegeka Arena, on Sunday.
Genk’s Paul Onuachu and Ghanaian player, Joseph Paintsil, both contributed to the win with a goal and an assist each. Onuachu scored Genk’s second goal in the 68th minute and currently leads the league’s goal-scoring chart with 14 goals from 16 matches this season.
Paintsil assisted in both Onuachu’s goal and Carlos Cuesta’s equalizing goal in the 25th minute. Bryan Heynen sealed the win for Genk with a goal in the 81st minute. The victory puts Genk at the top of the league table with 49 points from 19 matches, including 16 wins, one draw, and two defeats.
Onuachu and Paintsil will look to maintain their starting positions when Genk takes on Royal Antwerp in the quarter-final of the Belgian Cup on Wednesday and Zulte Waregem, on Saturday.
