August 24, (THEWILL) – Olumide Akpata, the former president of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has stepped down as a senior partner of the leading law firm in Nigeria, Templars to face active politics.
Akpata recently joined the Labour Party in Edo State and expressed interest to contest for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
According to Templars, Akpata informed the firm and other partners of his decision to engage in active politics, which necessitated a unanimous decision by the legal luminary and the firm’s governing body for Akpata to step down from active service.
His voluntary resignation will take effect from August 31, 2023.
Templars appreciated Akpata for the significant role he played in the growth of the firm over the years before his exit.
