September 16, (THEWILL) – The Old Boys Association of Methodist High School Ibadan has said that it is planning a reunion and fundraiser for the rehabilitation of facilities in the school.
The National President of the association, Dr. Lekan Abioye, said in a meeting with journalists in Ibadan.
Abioye said that a reunion of members of the association, the first ever, is scheduled to take place between December 8 and 9 at the Lead City Hall, Lead City University campus, Ibadan.
He said the event is aimed at bringing together all old students of Methodist Boys High School, Ibadan for the purpose of bonding, networking and drawing up a viable plan for the rehabilitation of the school.
He said the first day of the reunion will feature training workshops aimed at the empowerment of the old boys.
“There will also be interactive sessions with some resource persons across various disciplines and a novelty match between our school and Bishop Phillips Academy. “We hope to have the presence of some government representatives on that day to spur us on,” Abioye said.
The reunion event, he noted, will take place on the second day.
According to Abioye, the association has targeted the sum of N250 million for the rehabilitation of the school. The fund will be used for the construction of modern sporting facilities, to build and equip a standard science laboratory, to purchase a school van and to complete an abandoned event hall for the purpose of generating revenue for the school.
He said the old boys also planned to resuscitate the school’s boarding system by renovating any of the existing structures, which will be used to test-run between 20 and 30 students at a go, improve the aesthetics of the school premises through landscaping and plant flowers, as well as to complete the perimeter fencing of the school which is already halfway.
He added that the mega reunion initiative is part of his administration’s desire to leave behind a very solid legacy upon which the incoming and subsequent administrations can consolidate.
