March 22, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Football Federation has announced a squad change for the Super Eagles’ Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup playoff match against Ghana’s Black Stars.
John Noble of Enyimba has been called up as a late substitute for Watford loanee Maduka Okoye. Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper was forced to withdraw from the 25-man roster due to illness.
Noble is not new to the Nigerian setup, as he was included in the completed squad list for the TotalEnergies 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), even though he was uncapped throughout the duration of the continental competition.
The 28-year-old has been an unused substitute for the Super Eagles on eight occasions, including the dead rubber match against Guinea-Bissau at the Cameroon tournament.
Augustine Eguavoen, the interim manager, has made two forced changes to his squad, the first being the exclusion of injured Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi and the addition of Lorient ace Innocent Bonke.
The Super Eagles will undergo their first training session on Tuesday evening at 1830 hours at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
