Okoye Makes Eredivisie Best XI As He Is Named Goalkeeper Of The Month

April 02, (THEWILL) – Maduka Okoye of Sparta Rotterdam, has been named Eredivisie goalkeeper of the month. The Nigerian was selected as one of the best XI players in the league for the month after keeping a string of clean sheets.

Three FC Twente players were named to the team, with the remainder going to Ajax, PSV, Go Ahead Eagles, and Groningen.

The team, which had Okoye in goal, included Philipp Max (PSV), Julio Pleguezuelo (FC Twente), Robin Pröpper (FC Twente) and Joshua Brenet (FC Twente).

The others were Ryan Gravenberch (Ajax), Luuk Brouwers (Go Ahead Eagles), Jesper Karlsson (AZ), Michael de Leeuw (FC Groningen), Sébastien Haller (Ajax) and Eran Zahavi (PSV).

Okoye’s best performance of the season thus far came against Vitesse Arnhem, when he prevented them from scoring before the game was eventually called off due to fan unrest.

A video of him standing off a fan who invaded the pitch immediately went viral, and he was acclaimed by the media.
