October 5, (THEWILL) – Oluwatobiloba Amusan, the world, Commonwealth, and African Games champion in the 100-metre hurdles, was celebrated by Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Tuesday and was formally appointed as the state’s sports ambassador.
According to a statement made in Abeokuta by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, Abiodun also offered the pacy athlete a house in Ijebu-Ode and announced a cash reward of N5 million.
As THEWILL previously reported, the governor had adopted the athlete in April last year, after learning about Amusan’s accomplishments from the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare.

Abiodun, who was speaking at the ceremony hosted in his Oke Mosan office, praised Amusan as a role model for girls and children and a real-world demonstration of the possibilities that can come about when women are supported.
He said: “So, you will be our sports ambassador; I am happy that you said you are not from any other state. You are from Ogun and not from Lagos and you want to come back home. We also want to ensure that you come back home. We want to assure you that as you come back home, you have a home here in the state. So, in view of that, we are also going to be presenting to you a house in Ijebu-Ode.”
