March 16, (THEWILL) – Less than 48 hours to the March 18 State House of Assembly election, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for Abeokuta South State Constituency 1, in Ogun State, Hon Sowunmi Olomu, has stepped down for Hon. Oluwatobi Doregos of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Olomu, who said that he stepped down because he shares the same manifesto and vision with Doregos, expressed confidence that he would meet the yearnings and aspirations of the constituents if elected.

While fielding questions from newsmen in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on why he stepped down for Doregos, he said apart from sharing the same manifesto with him, he also met Governor Dapo Abiodun, who asked him to join hands with him and APC.

Olomu, who said that he was giving his full support to the APC candidate for Abeokuta South State Constituency 1, appealed to his loyalists and followers, as well as the constituents, to equally give their support and votes to him in the forthcoming election.

He said that Doregos remains the only candidate among other contestants for the seat that knows and understands the challenges the people of the constituency are facing, assuring them that he would bring people-oriented projects to the constituency if he wins.

Olomu said, “I found out that we are from the same constituency and he is my brother from another mother. I looked into it and also discovered that we share the same manifestoes, although he is in the ruling APC and I am in the opposition SDP, and with such a manifesto, I saw that the best thing is for me to step down for him.

“Governor Abiodun met me physically and he urged me to join hands together with him to achieve success and saluted my courage, understanding and diplomacy.

“I want to appeal to my supporters and followers to channel the confidence and courage that they have in me to Hon. Oluwatobi Doregos, for the development of Abeokuta State constituency. He is a good man and a competent man for the job, he is the only contestant that can solve the problems of the constituency.

“I am giving Doregos my full support to win Abeokuta South State constituency election in the state because I have sat and chatted with him and see that with his manifesto, he will bring the necessary change to my constituency,” he added.
