Ogun Pledges Support For Scouting Development In Schools

January 31, (THEWILL) – Ogun State Government says it will continue to provide an enabling environment to continue to develop scouting activities in schools across the state.

The commissioner 2 of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr Isiaka Aderohunmu stated this at the opening ceremony of a 3-day workshop for members of the state Scout Council Training Team held at BK International Hotel, idi iroko.

Aderohunmu emphasised that scouting as a voluntary youth organisation provides leadership and citizenship training as well as value orientation for the young people.

He said that SUBEB, as the coordinating institution for primary and junior secondary school, will be willing and ready to support the requirement of students as scouts within the school system in a goodwill message.

The Chief Commissioner, Scout Association of Nigeria, Mr Dave Awunah commended the leadership of the state scout council for the quality scouting programme.

Awunah, who was represented by the national headquarters commissioner SDG Mr Bamidele Akinsanya urged the trainers to utilise their new learning for the service of the boys and girls scouts in their custody.

Speaking, the State Scout Training Commissioner, Prince Bisi Enitan noted that the workshop was aimed at improving the capacity of members of the state training team and chart a course of action for the implementation of the 2022 training programme.

The lead facilitator of the workshop, Apostle Tola Adenekan stressed the importance of strategic resource mobilisation and efficient financial management to support the movement in the realisation of his goal of creating a better world.

Earlier, the State Scout Commissioner Engr. AO Leigh expressed appreciation for members of the training team drawn from the 5 provinces of the State including Egba, Yewa, Awori, Remo, Ijebu, for sacrificing time, energy and resources to attend the workshop.
