Officers Killed As Gunmen Attack Policemen In Enugu

February 10, (THEWILL) – At least four officers have been reported killed, following an attack by gunmen on a police team around Lomalinda Estate, Independent Layout in Enugu on Thursday afternoon.

Though information about the incident is still sketchy, a source familiar with the development said, “the gunmen had kidnapped a man very close to Treasure Point along Ugwuaji Road before attacking the police.”

While some said two policemen were killed, others said those who died were up to three or four.

The source said, “The unknown gunmen kidnapped a man around that culvert, where they sell ties and it seemed the gunshots attracted the police nearby and they tried to block them.

“We heard serious gunshots and believed they must have engaged the police in a shootout, which claimed the lives of three policemen.”

The Enugu Police Command is yet to confirm the incident.
