Officers Feared Killed As Gunmen Attack Police Checkpoint In Enugu

June 30, (THEWILL) – Gunmen have reportedly killed two police officers at a checkpoint in Gariki, MTD area in Enugu South Local Government Area.

Spokesperson of the Enugu Police Command, Daniel Nduka, said the policemen were attacked during a “stop and search duty.”

He said the police are on the trail of the gunmen, but that details of the incident are still “sketchy.”

“There was an attack on policemen on stop and search duty this morning, along Agbani Road, close to Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway, by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums.

“However, details of the incident are still sketchy, while command’s tactical/operational operatives have been mobilised and are on the trail of the miscreants. Further developments will be communicated”, Nduka said

When asked about the reported killing of the policemen, Nduka said: “When I have more details, I will tell you. There is an operation ongoing, so I can’t give you such information please.”
