BEVERLY HILLS, September 25, (THEWILL) – Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki along with his deputy, Philip Shaibu on Friday met with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A statement by Presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie said that Obaseki visited President Buhari to thank him for ensuring fairness in the Edo election.
Onochie on her Twitter handle, disclosed that the Edo state governor was accompanied on the visit by his deputy, Philip Shaibu. The presidency said Obaseki appreciated the fact that the president put measures in place to make the Edo governorship election credible.
Obaseki had in an interview by the BBC on Sunday, September 20, said the president’s neutrality “sealed his victory in the poll”. The governor said “had President Buhari not prevailed over the election, the poll would have ended as another blemish on the Nigerian electoral process.”

Meanwhile, Governor Obaseki has dismissed insinuations that he is thinking of returning to the APC. The governor told reporters that it will be “immoral for him to return to a party that disqualified him, after winning the Edo election on the platform of the PDP which took him in.”
