SAN FRANCISCO, July 09, (THEWILL) – Controversial former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo Monday made a surprise appearance at a campaign rally of Honourable Oladipupo Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the political party that he resigned from prior to the 2015 general election, following his disagreement with the leaders of the party and its then Presidential candidate, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
Obasanjo according to reports drove into the campaign venue, the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, in a convoy of cars and went straight to the podium where Hon. Adebutu, who is currently representing Remo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and his supporters were stomping and took the microphone.
“I am just passing by and decided to say hello and wish you well,” the former president who resides in the expansive library complex told the cheering crowd before departing the event.
Obasanjo, who said he had quit partisan politics, established his Coalition for Nigeria Movement, which later fused into the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
He is a part of the coalition of retired military generals and politicians seeking to stop President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from winning his reelection bid next year.
