May 07, (THEWILL) – The composer of the National Youth Service Corps’ anthem, Wole Adetiran is dead.
The Ogun State NYSC Coordinator, Dr Belinda Faniyi, who confirmed the sad development, said Adeniran, 74, died on Friday evening.
THEWILL gathered that the deceased had been battling prostrate cancer for years.
Adetiran, an Indigene of Igbajo in Osun State Composed the popular NYSC Anthem in 1984 while serving as a Corp member at the Polytechnic of Ibadan, Oyo State,
He studied music at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He was also a member of the Celestial Church of Christ, where he was the National Music Director for the CCC Worldwide. Until his death, he was the church’s National Music Director.
