August 28, (THEWILL) – Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder, Matheus Nunes, will not feature in the club’s Carabao Cup match against Blackpool on Tuesday night, as he pushes for a move to Manchester City.
The 25-year-old Portuguese international has stopped training with Wolves after the English Premier League champions had a £47 million bid rejected last week. While Wolves are yet to receive any new offers from City, Nunes has opted to cease training in an attempt to force through the transfer before the window closes on 1 September.
Nunes, who joined Wolves from Sporting Lisbon last summer for £42m, was left out of the squad for Saturday’s 1-0 win at Everton and now faces disciplinary proceedings. However, the club could reintegrate the player should the proposed move to the Etihad Stadium fail to materialise ahead of the transfer deadline.
Wolves manager, Gary O’Neil, will also be without forward Hwang Hee-Chan for the cup tie due to a hamstring problem.
