NUC Executive Secretary Abubakar Abdulrasheed Resigns

June 26, (THEWILL) – The Executive Secretary (ES) of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Abubakar Abdulrasheed, has voluntarily resigned from the Commission.

Professor Abdulrasheed disclosed the development on Monday, while presenting letter of issuance of a provisional licence to Kogi State University, Kabba, Kogi State.

Abdulrasheed, who has spent seven years as the ES of NUC, said he is returning to Bayero University, Kano, where he was appointed from.

He was appointed Executive Secretary to the NUC by former President, Muhammadu Buhari, alongside other heads of parastatals in the Federal Ministry of Education, in August 2016, for a five-year term. He was reappointed in 2021, to continue in office.

Presenting the letter to Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, Prof Abdulfasheed described the new university as his last baby in the Commission, having granted approvals to numerous universities in the country during his seven-year administration.

Bello, who led top functionaries from the State to the Commission, said the idea behind the creation of the university was to raise more graduates in the state.
