February 16, (THEWILL) – Plateau United put on a commanding performance as they secured a 5-0 win against El-Kanemi Warriors at the New Jos Stadium.

The home side set the pace of the game from the very beginning, with Anthony Sunday netting the first goal just four minutes into the match. The visitors could not catch a break as Eru Jackson (in the 21st minute) and Ibrahim Mustapha (28′) extended Plateau’s lead.

In the second half, Tochukwu Udeh (63′) and Uche Onwuansanya (90+2′) continued the rout, burying two more goals past the El-Kanemi goalkeeper. The victory saw Plateau United climb to third in Group A, sharing the same points with Remo Stars. However, their spot in the championship playoff is yet to be confirmed, as the result of the Akwa United versus Gombe United fixture on Match-Day 8 could change the standings.

Elsewhere, Enyimba claimed their third consecutive win after beating Shooting Stars 2-0, thanks to Chukwuemeka Obioma Godson’s brace. The result left Shooting Stars trailing the playoff spots by four points, while Obioma became the top scorer in the league with seven goals.

In Group B, Lobi Stars’ six-match unbeaten run came to an end after losing 2-1 to Wikki. Muhammed Guda’s brace (6′ and 38′) helped Wikki secure a vital win, while Umar Abba (34′) netted Lobi’s only goal. Abia Warriors missed the chance to go top of the group after losing 1-0 to Doma United, while Sunshine Stars also failed to enter the championship playoff spots following their 2-1 defeat to Dakkada.

Niger Tornadoes played out a 1-1 draw with Bayelsa United, leaving the latter at the bottom of Group B. Tornadoes’ David Okurumi (26′) opened the scoring, but Robert Mizo (44′) soon equalized for Bayelsa United. Meanwhile, Group A leaders Bendel Insurance secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Nasarawa United, with Ebuka Akubundu (67′) scoring the only goal of the match. Insurance remain unbeaten this season, making them a strong contender for the championship playoff spots.
