September 21, (THEWILL) – Nigerian sprinter, Tobi Amusan, has been hailed by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) after her impressive victory in the 100m hurdles at the recent Diamond League meet in Oregon, USA.

THEWILL recalls that Amusan claimed the title in a time of 12.33 seconds for her third consecutive Diamond League triumph. It was a triumphant return to form for Amusan after a disappointing sixth-place finish at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last month. Tony Nezianya, the NOC Spokesperson, noted that Amusan had “come back stronger and better like she promised” since that setback.

By defending her Diamond League title, she cemented her status among the world’s best. She first won the Diamond League 100m hurdles trophy back in 2021 with a time of 12.42 seconds. She successfully defended the title in 2022 in 12.29 seconds in Zurich. Her three-peat Diamond League wins confirm her exceptional resilience in the face of tough competition.

Nezianya praised Amusan’s “dedication, persistence and relentless hard work”, saying she serves as an inspiration to countless young Nigerian athletes. He added that her victory was a moment of national pride for Nigeria, highlighting the country’s status in athletics on the global stage.

With more triumphs surely to come, all eyes will be on “Tobi Express” as Amusan is affectionately known, as she continues to propel herself and Nigeria to greater sporting heights.
