January 30, (THEWILL) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has berated Yahaya Bello, the immediate-past governor of Kogi State, over moves to throw the party into confusion.

THEWILL reports that the warning followed alleged moves by the former governor to undermine the office of the National Chairman of the party, currently occupied by Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former governor of Kano State.

Speaking with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, warned the former governor to stop confusing the party, saying the position of the national chairman is currently occupied.

The posters of former governor Yahaya Bello, on Monday, flooded Abuja, barely 48 hours after he left office.

Bello’s posters were seen on major streets in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), especially around the Federal Secretariat and on walls and fences of structures around the APC national secretariat on Blantyre Street at Wuse 2 in Abuja.

The posters of the former governor with his picture have the inscription: “APC Next Level. Alhaji Yahaya Bello as APC National Chairman. Leading the Change, Building a Stronger APC.”

THEWILL reports that the current National Chairman was elected at the August 3, 2023, National Executive Committee (NEC) of the APC to replace Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who resigned from office.

Sources in the party said the move to unseat Ganduje was being orchestrated within and outside the APC.

One of the sources said some elements from the North Central have been plotting to regain the office of the National Chairman, which the region lost to the Northwest where Ganduje hails from.

“Bello’s move is an attempt to bring back the chairmanship seat to the region, and it is believed he has the backing of several stakeholders in the Northcentral,” the source said.
