December 11, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nnadozie has been named the CAF Goalkeeper of the Year for 2023 in the women’s category.

The Super Falcons’ shot-stopper was recognised for her outstanding performances both at the international level and with her club, Paris FC. Nnadozie’s contributions during the FIFA Women’s World Cup and her impressive displays in the UEFA Women’s Champions League earned her this prestigious accolade.

Nnadozie’s journey to winning the CAF Goalkeeper of the Year award, began during the FIFA Women’s World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023. At the club level, Nnadozie played a vital role in Paris FC’s qualification for the UEFA Women’s Champions League. With six clean sheets in 14 matches, she was instrumental in her team’s success. Her consistent performances and ability to keep the opposition at bay, made her a standout goalkeeper in the competition, qualifying them ahead of European big sides like Arsenal where she stopped to penalties.

Nnadozie’s recognition as the CAF Goalkeeper of the Year, against Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini, is a testament to her talent, hard work, and dedication to the sport. She has proven herself as a reliable last line of defense for both her club and country. Her achievements highlight the growing prominence of Nigerian women’s football on the international stage.
