Nigeria’s Revenue Sharing Formula Awkward- Bola Tinubu

SAN FRANCISCO, September 05, (THEWILL) – National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Saturday, called for the review of the nation’s revenue sharing formula.

Tinubu who made the call during the inauguration of Ondo state Internal Revenue Service Complex in Akure, said the present revenue sharing formula is awkward and needs an urgent review to ensure speedy development of the country..

According to Tinubu, “the cumbersome revenue formula of Nigeria as at today is awkward and needs to be reviewed. The current economic realities in the country necessitate a new revenue formula.”

Asiwaju Tinubu who described Ondo State as a great potential for energy, economy and agriculture, said, when its potentials are fully utilized and youths engaged, social unrest in the region would become history. According to Tinubu, “If the fiscal element of our Nigerian economy is strictly well supervised, we can turn our population to prosperity instead of our liability”

Tinubu however, charged the southwest governors on the need to work out means to develop the zone for it to take its rightful position of excellence in the country.

The APC national leader noted that the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has laid a good and solid foundation for the development of the state, He therefore encouraged the state residents to see prompt payment of their taxes as duty. “No nation could develop without the contributions from its citizens”, he said.
